Food Shelf
At The BRICK, we help the hungry in our communities. We provide an assortment of food items, both non-perishable and fresh, to families in need. They may visit The BRICK’s Food Shelf once each month, receiving three to five days’ worth of groceries. This is emergency, supplemental food, which The BRICK obtains from the Federal Emergency Food Assistance Program, Second Harvest Food Bank, Wal-Mart’s Feed America Program, and donations from area churches, community organizations, and individuals.
In 2015 we gave out an average of 34,000 pounds of food to 700 households each month. We served a total of 19,380 individuals during the year, and distributed 415,391 pounds of food.

The BRICK has four Food Shelf locations: Ashland, Cable, Cornucopia, and Mellen.
- Ashland Food Shelf, 420 Ellis Avenue, open from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, Mondays through Wednesday, Thursdays 9 am to 7 pm, closed on Fridays
- Cable Food Shelf, 13380 Spruce Street, open the 4th Thursday Jan.-Oct. and the 3rd Thursday Nov.-Dec. from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Cornucopia Food Shelf, Town of Bell Community Center, open 1st and 3rd Thursday, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Mellen Helping Hands Food Shelf, Mellen City Hall, lower level, open the third Thursday of each month, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
To register, stop by any of the locations during office hours and please bring the identification and proof of address. These items include:

You will only need to show proof of all members once. ID of head of household, or proxy, is still required for each visit.
